What Is a Coin Counter?

This coin counter adds up cash for you. Instead of stacking coins and doing the arithmetic in your head, type how many pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars and bills you have, and the total updates instantly. It handles both coins and notes, so it works just as well for a cash drawer as for a coin jar.

Everything is calculated in your browser. No sign-up, and nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

How to Use It

Sort your money into piles by denomination, count each pile, and type the quantity into the matching row. Each row shows its own subtotal so you can spot a mistake quickly, and the big number at the top is your running total. Total pieces tells you how many coins and notes you counted altogether.

Working from rolled coin? Each row lists the standard roll, so ten rolls of quarters is simply 400 in the quarters row.

Who Uses a Coin Counter

Closing a Till

Retail and hospitality staff cash up at the end of a shift. Entering each denomination separately gives you a subtotal per row, which makes it much easier to find the error when the drawer does not balance.

Emptying the Coin Jar

Before you carry a heavy jar to the bank, it helps to know roughly what is in it — and whether a coin machine's fee is worth paying.

Teaching Money

Children learning coin values can count a handful, enter the amounts, and check their own answer. Seeing that 4 quarters and 10 dimes both make a dollar lands better than being told.

Small Fundraisers and Collections

Counting donations from a bucket or an office collection is faster when you sort by denomination first and let the tool do the multiplication.
